Technical Requirements
Server
- O/S: Windows Server 2000 (Service Pack 4 or higher) or Windows Server 2003 recommended for optimal multi-user performance. Windows XP Pro (Service Pack 2 or higher) or Windows Vista (excluding Windows Vista Home Basic) are acceptable for stand-alone or a small multi-user configuration. At this time we do not run on any 64-bit O/S.
- IIS: Internet Information Services must be added as a Windows component. Port 80 must be open. A number of virtual directories will be created. These virtual directories require ASP.NET version 2.0 and anonymous access enabled in Directory Security. WebServices are hosted in these virtual directories. The workstations communicate to the webService methods via XML over TCP/IP.
- SQL: SQL Server 2005 Express is installed with a named instance of "Aquira" if SQL Server 2005 is not present. Microsoft has limitations on Express including support for only 1 CPU, a 1 GB RAM memory limit for the buffer pool, and a 4 GB database size. The user can purchase/install the full SQL Server 2005 at their discretion.
- Processor: 3 GHz or faster recommended
- RAM: 3 GB or higher recommended
- Disk space: 50 MB Minimum Maximum depends on Database size
- .NET Framework: 2.0
- NOTE:
For larger operations, the database (SQL Server) and web servers (IIS) can be on separate machines.
Workstation
- O/S: Windows 2000 Pro (Service Pack 4 or higher), XP Pro (Service Pack 2 or higher) or Windows Vista. At this time we do not run on any 64-bit O/S.
- Microsoft Office 2003 or 2007 for Copywriting.
- Processor: 2 GHz or faster recommended
- RAM: 2 GB or higher recommended
- Disk space: ∼100 MB
- Connectivity: Must be able to access the webServices running in the virtual directories on the server (web server if separate). This may require a VPN connection from outside the station. A broadband connection is recommended.
- .NET Framework: 2.0
Stand-Alone
- Must meet both the Server and Workstation requirements.
These are minimum requirements, so feel free to exceed them. Get as much power and free space as you can. For Internet connectivity and servers, RCS supports a Microsoft® network using TCP/IP using a brand name, server quality computer.
