What do those icons next to the airtime mean? How about enabling the Expand Spot Blocks setting? We'll cover those topics and more when we take a deeper dive into Zetta's Log Module!

RCS Live: Summer Check In and User Q&A

We've had a lot of users reach out recently to discuss training options for either themselves or a new hire. This is the exact reason why we launched the RCS Academy back in 2019.

Currently, users can enroll in GSelector or Zetta Academy and become RCS Certified! Plus, we incorporate real life radio examples to help the learner understand radio.

This week, we'll outline how to register for the course(s), how to take it and we'll even review some of the questions so that you can see how the RCS Academy can benefit your team.

RCS Live: Scheduling With The Pros: Favorite GSelector Scheduling Techniques with John Bonou

Between remote work and trying to fit in one more podcast or blog, voice tracking has become a necessity for many stations. Zetta was already equipped with a sophisticated voice track module, with additional remote capabilities through Zetta2GO, however, after COVID, we understood the need to further evolve voice tracking into the next decade.

We’ll start by reviewing Zetta and all of the tools to “work smarter, not harder,” like Trim In, Trim Out, or utilizing Zetta’s Multi-Track Editor to fix your voice tracks. Then, we ‘ll revisit Zetta2GO’s brand new, completely redesigned voice track module, which now includes these helpful audio mark tools found within Zetta. What about connecting multiple sites, helping to maximize your air talent? Yup, we got that covered as well! We’ll review multiple Zetta2GOs, Z-Cast and innovative technology with RCS Cloud voice tracking, which features its own two-factor authentication, bypassing the need for a VPN.

If you’re an on air talent or programming administrator, this is the session for you.

Unfortunately in today's radio world, we're experiencing an increasing threat with ransomware. You may have heard of sites being taken off the air, daily operations seized, and loss of important metadata, audio and specifically revenue.

Zetta Cloud Based Disaster Recovery is the only type of its kind to automatically upload all of your metadata, audio, logs, and SQL backups, safely and securely to the cloud. Zetta Cloud DR is not just a virtual machine, but written for and on AWS, following best practices and securities.

Join us this Thursday at 11am ET as we review and answer questions on how Zetta Cloud Based Disaster Recovery works, how it safely stores your data, and keeps you on the air during a disaster, like a ransomware attack.

You have one master stream/feed/source of content and you want to breakaway from the main feed to a secondary feed - think of a master stream and then a online stream that has a second unique traffic log. Essentially, with Zetta Splits, programmers can breakaway from the main feed, play a second source, and then return to the main feed.

We'll talk about the concept behind Zetta Splits, examples of implementations, scaling of Zetta Splits and basic configuration.

Of course, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask live in real time!

Revisiting Questions & Answers in the Time of Remote Workflows

We were joined by RCS VP of Customer Experience Barry Hill for another Questions and Answers in a Time of Remote Workflows. Barry and Nate broke down how users can reach out to Support and offered a grab bag of frequently asked questions.

Don’t forget that there are a lot of free RCS tools you can utilize in order to maximize your efficiency. For example, users can book their installation times ahead of time with www.rcsworks.com/bookings , Selector users with advanced firewall configurations can manually license themselves by going to www.selectorlicense.com , users can reset their password via www.rcsworks.com ‘s Forget Password link and finally if you send yourself a Data Exchange, RCS will keep an emergency copy of your database.

Next, straight from RCS Support Engineers, we broke down some methods to speed up the Support process. Users can always email support@rcsworks.com for smaller issues that don’t need an immediate turnaround, whereas if there is an off-air emergency, we encourage you to call the main support line (914-259-4900) so that we can get you back on the air ASAP. Make a point to write down important pieces of information like the exact time of the issue or the element in question. It saves Support from having to fish for resolutions stemming from, “I have an issue. At some point yesterday some song didn’t play. I don’t know which one or when it was or why it didn’t play.”

In the upcoming weeks, we’ll be showcasing some great Facebook Live topics. Keep an eye out for Facebook Event Invites and more! As always, reach out if you have any questions or looking for workflow solutions. Don’t forget to follow us on www.Facebook.com/RCSSoundSoftware for updates and we’ll see you every Thursday at 11am ET.

RCS Support Frequently Asked Questions with RCS VP of Customer Experience Barry Hill

Now that sporting events are back after a COVID break, it’s time to talk about Zetta and sporting events. As part of another Questions and Answers During a Time of Remote Workflows, Nate Mumford was joined by Brian Willard, Field Technician Services Manager, and Jeff Ziger, Senior Sales Engineer, to discuss some of their favorite sporting event tips and tricks.

Nate, Brian and Jeff broke down the session into four parts: prepping, affiliates, network (source of the content) and the future. Starting with the prep process, it’s also important to understand what your station needs to configure in order to properly run a successful sporting event broadcast. That starts with reaching out to your Network Provider to get the broadcast schedule and perhaps double check if there were any off season tweaks to either the clocks, tones or the event structure. Also, don’t forget that RCS is here to help you with any configuration, you’re not in this alone. If you need any assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out to RCS Support or your Field Technician Services (FTS) team member.

Next, we discussed implementing sporting events for Affiliates, specifically Mini-Logs and additional sequencers. Remember, the most important difference between Zetta Shows and Mini-Logs is that Mini-Logs can include time stamped assets, like Spot Blocks and Exact Time Markers, that can be implemented into the log structure. RCS recommends that users pre-define their Mini-Logs so that when they’re in season, users can simply drag and drop elements into the log as needed. Users can also pre-load their Logs to include Mini-Logs for each game ahead of time.

One of the biggest tips that RCS recommends is to purchase an additional Sequencer, which is tied to its corresponding Logs module. This will allow users to freely pivot content from the Primary Sequencer (or terrestrial output) to a Secondary Sequencer (like an online stream that cannot air certain content or another alternate source of programming, like a music log for rain delays. If you’re looking for some remote workflow solutions, if you add these audio routes and macros to Zetta’s Hot Keys, then they’re available for control via Zetta2GO. That way, users can control the on-air product via their home office! Markets with multiple stations can also get creative and have team or sport specific sequencers that can be controlled via Audio Routes to broadcast on different Primary sequencers, like on a AM one game and the FM during another.

Finally, Nate, Brian and Jeff discussed the future of what’s next for Zetta and sporting events. With the additional of the new Revma, RCS’ content delivery network, Conference App, hosts can create a cloud room to invite talent from multiple geographic locations that are mixed to a single output source. In regards to sports, think of a play by play cloud room that is fed by a Network to its affiliates. In addition to Zetta, GSelector also has a feature for a specific Clock override. Instead of a grid override, create a single sporting clock, which can include Zetta’s Mini-Logs, and program the clock to override generic programming during the scheduling process.

Don’t forget, if you want the latest and greatest, RCS is always looking for new beta users for their upcoming Zetta 5.20.1 and GSelector 4.9.0 releases. And if you’re working from home, we would love to showcase your at-home setup! Send your pictures to live@rcsworks.com or direct message us on social media and we’ll send you some RCS goodies! We have some special guests and surprises lined up for upcoming Facebook Lives, including a detailed breakdown of Zetta’s Site Replication vs. Z-Cast with Zetta Product Manager Martin Blazek. You won’t want to miss it! As always, reach out if you have any questions or looking for workflow solutions. As part of our ongoing RCS Questions and Answers in a Time of Remote Workflows series, we broke down the latest enhancements to Zetta Cloud. Officially released last week, Zetta Cloud now has the capability to customize layouts based on dockable modules, floating Voice Track module, Exact Time Markers, Emergency Playlists, Tag Fill, and Missing Audio Reports.

Probably the most exciting new Zetta Cloud feature is the ability to customize your Zetta Cloud layout, just like your local Zetta. We’ve introduced the Module dropdown from the top menu so that users can open and either float or dock each Zetta Cloud module. In addition, users can quickly right click on a transition, insert a Voice Track, which will automatically open a floating Voice Track module for users to efficiently voice track, save their work, and close the corresponding Voice Track module. And with the option to Save Individual Layouts, users can also save default layouts for different stations, configurations or profiles.

Next, we discussed the new ETM, or Exact Time Markers, display and Gap Times. Now users can see exactly where the hour is trending, either over or under the desired time specified by the ETM. Zetta Cloud even has the unique scheduling technique of Emergency Playlists or Tag Fill. Think of the Emergency Playlist as a collection of elements that can be scheduled within Zetta Cloud in case of emergency when there is no log present. Whereas the Tag Fill will look to fill the hour with elements that have the same corresponding tag as defined in the Metadata module. This way, Zetta Cloud will populate a schedule with a specific group of elements. Finally, looking to see if you’re missing any audio? Simply run the new Missing Audio Report to see what elements are scheduled and feature no audio.

Zetta Cloud is constantly being updated with enhancements that blends the landscape between hardware and cloud based automation systems. Stay tuned for more updates as we’ll continue to showcase new features when they’re released.

RCS has some special guests and surprises lined up for upcoming Facebook Lives, in which we’ll discuss some of the advanced features and configurations of the full line of RCS products. RCS Support Always Here For You

After a nice week off, it was time for another RCS Questions and Answers in a Time of Remote Workflows. This Thursday, we reviewed how Zetta Cloud and Zetta Cloud Based Disaster Recovery works and showcased a couple new Zetta Cloud features, like Hot Keys, Station settings and the System Monitor.

Remember, the first phase of RCS Cloud is Zetta Cloud Based Disaster Recovery, which acts as a separate market, but runs in tandem with your current Zetta system. Any changes, be it log, new audio or metadata changes, including backups, are instantly saved to Zetta Cloud. If disaster strikes, enable Zetta Cloud with your phone and you’re back on the air. When the disaster is over, restore your Zetta backup, disable Zetta Cloud and you’re back to normal.

As we inch closure to a fully cloud based radio automation system, Zetta Cloud now features the Hot Keys module. Hot Keys allow the user to play audio outside the on-air and audition modules. You’ll find that Zetta Cloud’s Hot Keys module performs the same as it would in Zetta or Zetta2GO. Simply add a new Hot Key bank, drag and drop assets, adjust the color and it’s ready for playout.

Next, we also went over some of the updated Station specific settings. Users can now utilize stretch and squeeze, Soft ETMs, audio processing, switch between English and French and more. With the ability to integrate with GSelector, possibly on a VM, users can also create a schedule remotely and then voice track or control their station from Zetta Cloud.

Q&A in the Time of Remote Workflows: Zetta Cloud New Features

This week, as part of our ongoing RCS Questions and Answers in a Time of Remote Workflows, Brian Willard, head of our Field Technician Services team, joined in to talk about RCS installs and changes we’ve implemented since COVID-19.

After quarantine was in place, RCS adapted their installs so that we could operate remotely. We’ve been continuing installations and with certain cities reopening, RCS has even begun some on-site installations. Of course, operating under CDC safety guidelines.

RCS has also revealed their new Field Technician Services Client Portal, a URL in which Clients can update information for their upcoming installation. Since we like to make sure our install team’s time is better spent working with the Client, RCS has found that any information up front will help speed along the process. This way our staff is training and not “watching a progress bar.” The new RCS FTS Client Portal will be available very soon.

Afterward, we broke down the upgrade/installation timeline and what to expect. The FTS team will convert any audio and metadata from your previous system and make a point to properly train your entire staff, including sitting in with morning shows.

If you have your questions regarding the upgrade/installation process, don’t hesitate to reach out to RCS Support or your local RCS Sales Representative. Make sure to follow us www.Facebook.com/RCSSoundSoftware and we’ll see you every Thursday at 11am ET.

Q&A in the Time of Remote Workflows: Field Technician Services Installations

Another Thursday, another RCS Questions and Answers in a Time of Remote Workflows. This time around, we answered a collection of user-driven questions, including auditioning in Zetta, “Not Coded” in GSelector, and a refresher on the Zetta2GO and Selector2GO remote workflows.

After we did a review of scheduling a log in Selector2GO, massaging a log in the Editor, seeing the changes in Zetta and adding audio into Zetta2GO, we focused on “Not Coded” attributes in GSelector. If you have a lot of attributes in GSelector that aren’t properly coded, they’ll get a tag of “Not Coded,” which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, especially if you’re not including that attribute’s Spread Goal in the Priority List. If you are calling for a Spread Goal, then GSelector will treat “Not Coded” as a value to count towards the scoring process.

We went over quick fixes on how to use Browse List and GSelector Legacy Library Browse settings to isolate “Not Coded” elements and then properly define/fix that attribute. We also went over how to Audition audio in Zetta2GO, including hiding the Audition player at the bottom of your Zetta2GO.

Q&A in the Time of Remote Workflows: User Driven Questions (5/14/20)

Every Thursday at 11am ET RCS is hosting an open Questions and Answers in a Time of Remote Workflows so that we can assist our users who are navigating through COVID-19 workflows. This week we covered Aquira2GO.

Just like the other RCS 2GO products, Aquira2GO is not an app, which means that multiple users can access it anywhere as long as they have proper VPN access. Dawn Newberry, our Aquira Sales Engineer, lead the conversation and demonstrated a couple ways Sales Managers can utilize Aquira2GO to look at different reports and contracts.

First, the Aquira2GO dashboard is completely customizable with reports that can be favorited or displayed on the Aquira dashboard home page. As an example, think of an early morning snapshot of a user’s database. A sales manager wanted to plan out their day by seeing where they are within a current budget, projections, and forecasts, as well as individual Account Executive’s breakdown of clients, prospects vs leads. Afterward, Dawn went over a couple of tips and tricks and demonstrated how you can break up long term contracts by skipping a week within the length of the contract.

If you’re interested in setting up Aquira2GO or looking for more information, please don’t hesitate to reach out to RCS Support or your local RCS Aquira Sales Representative, which just happens to be Dawn! Don’t forget to follow us on www.Facebook.com/RCSSoundSoftware and we’ll see you every Thursday at 11am ET.

Q&A in the Time of Remote Workflows: Aquira2GO (5/7/20)

As part of another RCS Questions and Answers in a Time of Remote Workflows, we broke down how to set up and configure GSelector S3 scheduling.

S3 stands for Schedule Subscription Service and it’s available as part of your GSelector contract with an additional installation suffix. Essentially, S3 creates a unique profile for a Subscriber so that a Publisher can create one master schedule and export it to an unlimited amount of Affiliates/Subscribers. The key is S3 allows the local Subscribers to maintain local clock structures, while overwriting their song positions with that of the Publisher.

In the latest Facebook Live, we broke down each step of the S3 setup process. First, connect the Publisher’s GSelector Server to the Subscription Manager, define the Publisher station, create a Subscription profile based on a 24/7 grid, enable the Subscriber’s S3 configuration in GSelector, and finally select the defined Subscriber profile.

While creating the Subscriber’s profile, there are multiple profile choices including Full Music Log (Subscriber’s local clocks are overwritten by that of the Publisher), Music Only (Subscriber maintains local clock structure and imaging) and Custom (The Publisher defines what asset types are sent over). Most users prefer the Music Only profile.

At the Publisher level, users can set Trust Levels based on clock positions and once they’re done with a log, they would lock it for S3 scheduling. Once locked, Subscribers can schedule their logs, as they normally would, and as part of the first step of the scheduling process, GSelector will acknowledge the defined Subscriber profile and bring in the music/logs from the Publisher.

If you’re interested in setting up GSelector S3 or looking for more information, please don’t hesitate to reach out to RCS Support or your local RCS GSelector Sales Representative. Don’t forget to follow us on www.Facebook.com/RCSSoundSoftware and we’ll see you every Thursday at 11am ET.

Q&A in the Time of Remote Workflows: GSelector & S3 Scheduling

Despite NAB’s cancellation, the show must go on! For the latest RCS’s Questions and Answers in a Time of Remote Workflows, RCS decided to breakdown some of the new Zetta 5.20.1 features that would have been revealed at NAB 2020.

Zetta 5.20.1 features numerous enhancements and scalable expansions to the future of Zetta. Since its inception over a decade ago, technology advancements have once again allowed the Zetta Team to upgrade many of Zetta’s under the hood features. Users will note the upgraded performance in Zetta’s UI, as well as easier flexibility when scaling large databases.

Aside from the under the hood upgrades, Zetta 5.20.1 has a completely redesigned user interface with upgraded fonts, colors, and more. We also introduced the brand new dark mode Zetta theme for users that want an “easier on the eyes” display.

For databases with extensive libraries, RCS also demonstrated the Server-Side Library search. Rather than having to search through thousands of songs and pieces of metadata, users can now enable a Server or Station Library search, which can be broken down by multiple metadata fields and treated almost as an internal search engine. Users also have the choice if they want to search their entire database or keep their searches simpler and display only single stations - or a combination of both! They can also search using multiple keyboards for a specific search, like a single title word and Artist.

Afterward, we demoed the new Revma Conference App and Zetta’s Stream URL feature, perfect for morning shows or talent that require multiple voices in a single feed. A producer would create a “Conference Room” and then invite others via a URL link. Once everyone has joined, the producer goes live and that stream will start to broadcast through Zetta, Zetta2GO, or Zetta Cloud, pending on the desired export.

RCS has some special guests and surprises lined up for upcoming Facebook Lives in which we’ll discuss some of the advanced features and configurations of the full line of RCS products. You won’t want to miss it! Follow us on www.Facebook.com/RCSSoundSoftware for times and reminders and we’ll see you every Thursday at 11am ET.

RCS invited Brian Radka from the RCS New Zealand Aquira Team to talk about the benefits of Aquira2GO.

Just like the other RCS line of 2GO products, including Zetta2GO and GSelector2GO, Aquira2GO is not an app, rather a URL that users can access via any web browser or operating system, as long as they have VPN access to their Aquira Server. Brian went into extensive detail on how Sales Representatives who are working from the road can efficiently utilize Aquira2GO. Starting with their daily agenda, users can schedule meetings, view the location on a Google Maps interface, as well as see other advertisers in the area in case they needed to schedule another meeting. In Brian’s example, after “meeting” with his first client, he sent a signed contract proposal with a schedule to his Sales Manager. Then, while he waited for the returned approval, he jumped to another client in Aquira2GO and added their commercial’s audio as an attachment. Don’t forget, once social distancing is a thing of the past, Sales Representatives can also play audio for clients in person or have them sign a contract or schedule on their device. Next, Brian went over the Sales Management tools, including budgets, forecasting and other reports available in Aquira proper.
